HTAC ALUMNI
HTAC was an invaluable resource as I prepared for college auditions. Not only did they make sure I looked and sounded my best during the self-tape and audition processes, but they have continued to be my biggest champions up to this day! Scott and Christa, and all the folks at HTAC, are truly like a second family to me. I cannot recommend them enough.
Preparing my audition material at HTAC made the entire process of applying to and auditioning for college theatre programs much less daunting. As I began applying to schools, my mentors at HTAC not only coached me through my audition package for several months, but helped me to clarify what I wanted to pursue in the future and which programs would suit me best. After receiving so much guidance and instruction I felt very comfortable with my material. Preparing for these auditions at HTAC was especially beneficial because I was offered a safe space to build my confidence as both a performer and an individual. I truly felt that my mentors were rooting for me through every up and down of the process. The family and support that I've found at HTAC is unmatched.
Being a part of HTAC is something I will honor forever. Applying for Musical Theatre programs is one of the hardest things I have had to do, and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without HTAC there to help me. I started HTAC as a second grader who wanted nothing but to sing! That second grader needed a platform to showcase his voice, and HTAC was that for me. Now, I am a freshman at Pace University (Class of 2027) in Manhattan achieving my BFA In Musical Theater! Ever since coming to NYC I have been able to take what i have learned with HTAC and perform at different venues here such as Don’t Tell Mama NYC, The Green Room 42, and 54 Below! I feel comfortable and confident in what I am able to showcase because HTAC guided me along finding myself as an artist. I want to thank Scott, Christa, Zach, and all of the family at HTAC. “Love is All Around” truly
My time spent at HTAC absolutely helped me prepare for the college audition process, as well as helping me to quickly adapt to what it takes to be a college student full-time. The hardest thing about the college audition process, in my experience, was getting used to the fast-paced nature of presenting your material and adjusting based on feedback you are receiving from faculty members in what is essentially a five minute time slot. Getting up on my feet and workshopping material, in a similar style to a professional audition setting, in classes at HTAC each week was incredibly beneficial to me and was directly transferable to experiences like these. Having the opportunity to see what it feels like to workshop new material so frequently in an environment that is so comforting and supportive is one of the reasons why I stayed at HTAC for such a long time. The faculty at the studio are so caring and experienced, the different classes that are offered each have unique but equally supportive environments, and the studio in general is a place to play, try things, and grow as an artist and person. I am so fortunate to have attended HTAC, as it was a formative place that really ignited my passion for the performing arts.
HTAC made me feel confident and prepared not just for my college auditions, but for all my auditions! I can go into an audition room knowing I am performing great work, and that I am putting my best self forward.
I’m not quite sure who I would be without HTAC. The time I spent at HTAC was probably some of the most influential for me as an artist and a human being. Scott and Christa have crafted a rare gem of a theater program that guides young actors in improving their craft and supports their growth as individuals. When I approached them several years ago about my interest in auditioning for college programs, they immediately began to offer their expertise. Over the course of the next several months, Scott and Christa devoted time outside of class to support me in my college audition journey. They aided me in selecting pieces that would showcase my acting ability and personality. Scott helped me record self-tapes and provided me with one-on-one audition technique and monologue coaching. Because of my work with Scott and Christa, I was accepted into seven of the nations top acting programs. I am currently a sophomore studying drama at NYU Tisch, all thanks to the training I received at HTAC.
Haddonfield Theatre Arts Center was a significant factor in my training leading up to the college audition process. Within class, I was assisted in working through my audition materials. Scott and Christa helped to ensure that the work I was presenting in my auditions was professional and representative of my abilities as an actor. They lended insight towards the audition process and what to expect once in the room. In addition, the training I received prior to my audition season was highly beneficial. HTAC instilled not only performance tools, but a sense of professionalism and work ethic that I carry to this day. I was given the confidence in my own abilities that I needed in order to not only endure the college audition process, but thrive. Jill Saperstein, New York University ’27
